In the Ordeal Ceremony, Meteu challenges us:
“We who love the woods and camping,
We who strive in cheerful service,
Stand beside and urge them forward
On the next step of their journey.”
Feb. 23-25 Tsisqan Lodge is having our annual Workshop Weekend event! In the past, Workshop Weekend has been a time of crafting and training. This year, with our 80th anniversary, we have a new theme: “We Who Love the Woods and Camping.”
The event will focus on building skills to become better campers, so we can in turn teach those skills in our units. The program will center around camping skills that people may not yet know.
Attendees can expect a fun weekend of fellowship and learning. Throughout the daily programs, however, people should remember our Obligation, and remember to urge others forward in their Scouting and Order of the Arrow journeys. There will be a Brotherhood Ceremony at the event, and I would encourage eligible members to take this next step.
As we cherish the woods and camping, we will also have a service opportunity. We will be clearing and burning brush in the Jim Vitus campsite. All you need to bring is work gloves and a cheerful spirit.
Additionally, this will be the first lodge-wide event fully run by the new LEC, and the first in our 80th anniversary year. This event will count towards the Tsisqan 80th Anniversary Jim Vitus Service Award requirement. It’s a great opportunity for members to jumpstart this year of celebration for the Grandfather Lodge.
