Rendezvous 2022 was great. Not only did we have a total of 217 members attend, but we also had 3 very special guests attend. The first was the first-ever Gateway Region chief, our section’s very own, Dirk Smelser. The second of our guests was the mayor of Vancouver. She is a Vigil member of our lodge and gave some remarks during the evening show. And last but certainly not least, was Matt Devore, our chief Scout executive.
We elected 2 new lodge officers and awarded some Lodge Service Awards, the Founder’s Award, and the James E. West award.
We started on Friday night with a big game of “Wauna Feud”! Our own re-creation of Family Feud. We had the lodge officers and our Gateway Region chief vs all of our chapter chiefs. The chapter chiefs won by a last-second comeback.
On Saturday we started by electing our new membership and communications vice chiefs. We then started our activities. For the first time in a while, we opened the climbing wall. We had 3 different shooting ranges open; shotgun, archery, and tomahawk. After lunch, we had 4 different training sessions. All about WICC which was taught by Bryant Gillins and his adviser Blair Timmerman. Our next training was What the OA can offer you which was taught by Mason Lewellen and Dirk Smelser. We had a class for Ordeal members who wanted to become Brotherhood. This was taught by our Brotherhood chair Logan Maxwell. And finally, Mr. Phillips taught a class for adults about What’s new in the OA.
In the evening we gave out all of our yearly awards. We followed this with our brotherhood ceremony. We had 32 ordeal members become Brotherhood.
Overall this was a great Rendezvous and we can’t wait until the next one!
Yours in Scouting
