Be Prepared for Summer Camp

The summer camp season is only months away and you don’t want to miss it! Spend some time in the great outdoors with your friends. Enjoy all that the great outdoors has to offer! Make sure to check in with your unit about attending camp this summer.

Already signed up for camp, that’s great! Here are some tips to make your experience the best it can be.

Preparing for camp

  • Understand what merit badges and programs the camp offers
  • Always double check the packing list to ensure you have all essentials
  • Look for high adventure opportunities at camp for older scouts

Merit Badges

  • Bring a pen and paper to class
  • Prepare for any cost that a merit badge requires
  • Make sure to spend time outside of class on your merit badge
  • Not all of them are complete, some are partials

Program Activities

  • Participate in activities as a unit or patrol
  • Some camps offer a program special to their camp

Trading Post

  • Don’t spend it all in one go
  • This is your go-to stop for all camp swag and snacks

Adults

  • Plenty of adult training classes are offered at camps
  • Programs like adult shootout are great ways to connect with others
  • Support your youth leadership growth throughout the week

With so much to do at camp. It is nearly impossible to do everything offered. Make sure you have a balance of program activities and merit badges. We hope you enjoy your time at camp this summer!
