Content Writer

About This Position

Content writers are responsible for creating high-quality written materials that effectively communication the message of the section and the Order of the Arrow. This role involves conducting research, writing, editing, and ensuring adherence to branding and styling guidelines.

Reports to: Written Content Lead

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and arrange interviews as necessary to gather information for articles.
  • Write engaging and informative content aligned with the section’s message and OA values.
  • Respond promptly to edits and suggestions, ensuring timely revisions.
  • Review assigned pieces for editing and provide constructive feedback to peers.
  • Correct grammar, spelling, and style errors according to the OA Style Guide, OA and BSA branding guides, and AP Style Book.
  • Ensure effective communication with other team members regarding corrections and updates.
  • Collaborate with the Written Content Team Lead as needed to clarify objectives and priorities.
  • Attend and actively participate in all team meetings.
  • Pitch article ideas to contribute to the content calendar.
  • Assist in meeting deadlines by managing time effectively and prioritizing tasks.
  • Adhere to the Section G16 code of conduct, team policies and procedures, and the Scout Oath and Law.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment of new team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Written Content Team Lead.
  • Serve as a positive role model and representative of the section in all interactions both online and offline.
