Secretary Statement – February 2021

Brothers,

Just when we thought the winter is over and saw some sunlight, the PNW weather has surprised us once again.

I hope you’re all doing well and staying safe. It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a year since COVID-19 hit and changed our lives. Throughout this time, we have seen an incredible effort from youth and adults to keep the Scouting movement alive, even during a pandemic. The section is doing our part, and we are committed to providing all Arrowmen in this section the amazing experience that we’ve been able to give for the past years. I believe we have an amazing year ahead of us!

As we navigate COVID-19, we are doing our best to keep everyone informed and have full transparency with Arrowmen in the section. As part of that effort, we have also published Council of Chiefs (COC) meeting minutes on our website so that everyone has access and can stay up-to-date on any decisions and changes we made during COC meetings. The Comms Team is also working hard to keep our website, calendar and social media updated so that you’re always going to find the latest information on section and lodge events. You can find all the information on our website, sectionw1s.org.

I wanted to quickly give you some news and updates and share what is going on in the section. First, we are starting to plan for our 2021 conclave. During the January COC, we have decided to continue planning for an in-person conclave in September and we will reevaluate the COVID-19 situation in May to make the final decision on conclave. We carefully made this timeline to ensure we can execute conclave safely while leaving enough time to plan an amazing conclave, regardless of locations and distance between each of us. We are also re-planning our ACT Conference. Last year, we planned to hold our ACT conference, but that unfortunately got canceled. But we now have new dates, April 10th, for ACT Conference. We are still working on details; more updates coming soon.

We are so proud of what we’ve been able to do in the last year, and cannot wait to see what we can accomplish in 2021. Remember to seek out little things you can do to help other people and do a Good Turn Daily. Slight thing can make a huge difference in everyone’s lives.
